Special Presentation by Dr. Salman Akhtar

In addition to the book signing, Dr. Salman Akhtar will present a 45-minute talk on Self-Loathing: Understanding the Sources and Therapeutic Approaches. In this presentation, Dr. Akhtar will explore the complex dynamics behind self-loathing, a topic that often leaves clinicians ill-equipped to treat. He will discuss the sources of self-loathing, its impact on patients, and therapeutic strategies for alleviating this painful condition. This insightful session aims to deepen clinicians’ empathy and understanding, improving their ability to attune to and address this affliction.

Meet the editors, Salman Akhtar and Lisa Crilley, and fellow contributors Phillip Ringstrom and Victoria Curea and get your copy of The Joy of Torment signed! Don’t miss the chance to engage in a meaningful conversation and gain a deeper understanding of both sadomasochism and self-loathing.

There will be a wine and cheese reception following the event. We look forward to seeing you and celebrating with you!
