Scientific Programs & Workshops

LAISPS’s Program Committee offers three tiers of educational experiences to the community covering contemporary psychoanalysis and its application to culture, available both online and in-person.

  • Abstract orange and yellow background with white gear icons and a circular design.

    Scientific Workshops

Scientific Workshops bring leading contemporary thinkers in psychoanalysis to LAISPS for in-depth exploration of their work, ideas, and clinical implications. These programs offer opportunities to engage with evolving psychoanalytic theory and practice through presentations, clinical material, and discussion with colleagues. Designed to deepen and expand psychoanalytic thinking, Scientific Workshops are offered both in person and online.

  • Digital overlay of icons representing teamwork, communication, ideas, and technology on an orange and black abstract background.

    Psychoanalytic CE Seminars

The Psychoanalytic Seminars Series offers small, focused programs that invite deeper engagement with important clinical and theoretical topics. Led by LAISPS candidates, members, and training and supervising analysts, these typically in-person gatherings bring together 10–30 participants for thoughtful presentation, discussion, and exchange. The intimate format encourages active participation and provides space to explore psychoanalytic ideas and their application to clinical work.

  • Outline of a human head with a gear and wrench symbol inside, surrounded by an incomplete circle, overlaid on an orange brick wall background.

    Psychoanalytic Conversations

Psychoanalytic Conversations offers informal spaces for psychoanalytic exchange, collaboration, and community. Held on Zoom, in the classroom, or in colleagues’ homes, gatherings may include discussions of works in progress, book signings and author conversations, reading groups, and small consultation groups. At the heart of the series is the idea that we build our psychoanalytic minds together—through collegial conversation, shared inquiry, and thinking alongside one another. These gatherings foster connection, intellectual curiosity, and the continued development of psychoanalytic thought and practice.
